phillysPhiladelphia Grand Jury – ‘The Good News’

We were a bit behind the 8-ball on this one – our bad – but here it is now, streaming for your pleasure in celebration of the release of the Philadelphia Grand Jury’s debut album ‘Hope Is For Hopers,’ which is available TODAY. Expatriate to join Placebo on Europe tour

Expatriate

You may have  been wondering where Expatriate cavorted off to after the release of their brillant debut In The Midst of This back in 2007. The Sydney quartet have clearly been living up to their title, residing and wowing audiences in Berlin for the past year or so.  Expatriate are set to do an epic list of shows supporting Placebo, beginning on the 21st of October and concluding on the 27th of November, blowing minds and temporal lobes all over France, Poland, Latvia, Austria and Germany. It’s been exciting to see bands like Expatriate, Temper Trap and the Howling Bells getting a fantastic run on the international circuit lately. Keep an eye and and ear out for an impending second album, and the possibility of the lads returning to our shores, fingers crossed. The Europeans can borrow our local talent. But just not for too long.

Win tickets to see the Philly Jays

, , No Comment

phillyjaystour

Last time we headed out to see the Philly Jays there was a queue that went halfway down the block and into the dodgy Thai restaurant around the corner. And no amount of industry haggling/bribing the doorbitch/hiding in our friend’s pockets could get us in to see the show. And that stuff almost always works.

So we know you kids must love Philadelphia Grand Jury a hell of a lot.

Luckily we have the dates of their next few shows right here… and if you live in Sydney or Melbourne you could win free tickets right here.

To enter for your chance to win a double pass to either the Melbourne or Sydney (Spectrum) shows, leave a comment below and tell us who the Philly Jays wanna kill, and why. Make sure you leave your email address so we can contact you.

Billboard analyses twitter effect on music sales

Since Coolfer stopped I went back to reading Billboard online. Their article on twitter made some good observations about how it affects music sales. Last week Yves Klein Blue’s team made the announcement that it was going to distribute a free download by signing up to follow their tweets. Unfortunately for them, launching the promotion on Friday meant they were over shadowed by the biggest newstories of the year. I would like to hear from anyone who downloaded the track?
