The White Room – ‘Enemies Closer’
The White Room will be, without doubt, your new favourite band. Trust me on this one, the four piece are the freshest group to emerge out of the fledgling Aussie rock scene since Silverchair became our favourite ‘Freaks’. Unlike Wolfmother (massive props to Mike Patton, hahah!), Jet, the Casanovas and the proliferation of 70s rock imitators, these guys (and one girl) are vastly original – embracing their culture rather than simply ripping off one from years gone by. Led by the power duo of Marc and Steph Collins, their debut, White Room Music is a grungy, bouncing ride that will have you addicted from the moment it hits your ears.
It’s like AC/DC meeting a 70s Funk band in a pub. Guttural but groovy, grungy but gorgeous, the White Room are a true anomaly in the Sydney scene; a group so great which continually resists catergorisation. The album was recorded by Phil McKellar, probably one of the most famous Australian producers – ever. And it shows: every note is crisply polished to perfection. The tunes rollick about with some moody-ass lyrics helping them along the way. Needless to say, there’s definitely some major label backing behind these guys but I’m yet to hear them on local radio. Check them out now, it’s definitely worth it!

I’ve heard this song on Triple J a fewtimes ad I swear I’ve seen a video clip for it somewhere too. If memory serves me correctly it has a guy in a wheelchair.
Pretty rockin’ song I wouldn’t mind hearing more of the album.

This sounds like my hernia that I had cut out of me last year came back to life, started a band and then threw up in my mouth. I know that makes no sense, but neither does your suggestion that The White Room will be, without doubt, my new favourite band.
I am gonna post here again. You and The White Room have inspired me to stop being a lazy douchebag and give the good dudes of the world that amazing music.

youn know for a minute there i thought you’d dropped off the planet into Ro Sham Bo world where nothing matters except crappy Abercrombie DJs and Muscles, the most superflous performer on the planet. but hey, you’re back with a vengance, right?
did you even listen to the track? its fucking good. go on, find me something SOOO much better (and by better i don’t mean ‘scene’ better i mean actually, musically better), since these guys are obviously shit. you cant launch an attack without reason, and if theyrer not youre new favourite band, i dont give a shit. they will be somebody elses, and to me thats all that matters.

Yes, very crisp sound – its all very strong and powerful, but havn’t you heard it all before? i have – its quite pedestrian and very predictable – sounds like a lot of “new aussie rock” bands, such as the dirty secrets from perth (who arnt sooo much better than this, but they are better)
my fav aussie band at the moment is SNOWMAN, and throwing away any cred they may have in the scene, they still shit all over the white room’s bland idea of interesting and new rock – thats my two bits for something that actually is soooo much better
each to their own dudes, but this definatly wont be making it to my top 10 this year….or my top 100

this is absolutely terrible. it feels like amateur hour at the local street press. and the music has every average tard-nu-metal cliche in the book.
perhaps some people can start writing about some other decent music outside of your own prospective cities?
How about the fucking awesome Adelaide indie scene for instance?

I think this highlights the fact Jonno Seidler is a dog that needs to be put down OR at least sent to his own little WHITE ROOM.
