The official video filmed by director Timothy O’Keefe for Violent Soho’s ‘Dope Calypso’, which is the opening track from the band’s third studio album titled ‘Hungry Ghost’ out September 6, 2013 through I OH YOU.

Back to their roots, rocking the streets of Brisbane and getting blazed with Adalita. And is that music’s most influential under 30, Johann of IOHYOU smoking up? Great song. Great band. Get on the tour bus:

Blurst of Times Festival

, , No Comment

blurstoftimes

So Blurst of Times Fest is happening this Sunday in Brisbane. There’s always a pal in every group who pulls out a stale Simpsons reference at a given time, but used in this context, against this ridiculous line up – Blurst of Times will get very, very loose.

The guys from Bedroom Suck, Fans Group and Hairy Mexican have pulled together their collective forces to bring a </DREAM> lineup that includes:

VIOLENT SOHO
VELOCIRAPTOR
SCOTT & CHARLENE’S WEDDING
GUNG HO
BORED NOTHING
THE CAIROS
SURES
BITCH PREFECT
WITCH HATS
TERRIBLE TRUTHS
DRUNK MUMS
KEEP ON DANCIN’S
TINY MIGRANTS
CIRCULAR KEYS
MAJOR LEAGUES
PIRATES ALIVE

Some of Oz’s best acts will hit the stage this Sunday the 31st of March across Alhambra Lounge, Black Bear Lodge and Coniston Lane (formerly Woodland). There are a handful of tickets left available HERE. If you’re not occupied with consuming chocolate or shackled to any other pious duties on Easter, get yr tune on. Blurst Fest will get very, very loose.

LOOK: Good Sniff draws ‘Pig City’

Local illustrator Good Sniff has gone to the liberty of sketching more than 300 individual faces belonging to 106 Brisbane bands.

“It got to a point about midyear where I’d be scooting around in the Valley and I’d recognise people because I’d drawn their faces. Which is creepy.”

She describes it as “character design exercise that got waaaay out of hand”.

Do take a closer look at this. It’s scarily accurate, even if there’s at least one member of every act who looks a little seedy <Gung Ho>.My favourites are Violent Soho looking doing 50 shades o’ Nazareth, JSS’s hair diversity, typical bong-eyed Dune Rats and the left Origliasso twin who looks like Julia Zemiro on meth.

Apparently she’s doing more revisions to this one, but I’d definitely like to see her take on another state.

New Violent Soho video looking like California via Brisbane with beers, bongs and babes. Directed by Tristan Houghton from Cartel Film Productions and lifted from the 7″ Tinderbox/Neighbour Neighbour release on I Oh You. Actually is that Val Kilmer working the ceramic? Oh and it turns out guitars definatley float. Good video. Good song. Great fucking band.

Fri, Nov 16 – Rocket Bar, Adelaide, SA
