Tame Impala – ‘Remember Me’
Streaming removed on request of label.
Since we’re on the topic of psych bands I thought I should mention that I heard some certain people in the industry are trying to pick on the next trend and they’ve decided that psychedelic bands could-just-be the next big retro revival. And that this Tame Impala band is the one they’ve picked on to capitalise on that could-just-be true trend return. When I got to their MySpace, the first song that came on was a cover of Blue Boy’s 1999 ‘Remember Me’, which uses a sample of an obscure 1970s song called Woman of the Ghetto sung by Marlena Shaw. In all it’s fuzzy demo glory, this cover is pretty enjoyable.

I can’t wait to see what the future brings this band. I know these guys personally and they have a virtually limitless well of talent.

It’s not a trend to capitalise,it’s a band that strikes your chord, after being needy for a long bit. Think spontaneous, here.

I Just heard Tame Impala’s Half Full Glass Of Wine and think its one of the best things that has come out in a long time especially amongst all this Steryle Synthesised Pop with no substance.

I think they’ve got a lot of potential but they still need a lot of work – some good production .

there not a trend band, there psychdelic hard rock,
timeless,
wat trend, one other psychadelic band (wolfmother) doesn’t make it a trend

tame impala are a breath of fresh air… i could see why you would draw comparisons with wolfmother… though wolfmother were over the top and teetering on cheesy at times… tame impala write well structured songs and the experience of playing together for a long time really shows

What is obscure about Woman of the Ghetto by Marlena Shaw? People that care about more than the next trend know that classic soultune…
And who the hell gives a fuck about the next trend anyway…
