First up apologies about the downtime, we have been experiencing site issues and I’ve been having trouble trying to fix it.
After almost 5 years of discovering and sharing new Australian music, the time has come for me to take a break. It has been my great pleasure and privilege to present to you what I think is the best new Australian music and I thank all of you who have spent time reading and listening to the amazing output of Australian musicians. This blog would have fallen apart without the help of contributors past and present, so I thank you too fellow bloggers. Editor Matt Hickey will continue to run this blog and he is contactable at his usual email address. If you’d like to contact me, my other email address still works.
I went to the ARIA awards for the first time yesterday. I had a great fun at the industry section, it was a pretty good cocktail party even though I missed out most of the ceremony itself due to the crowded viewing section. By the sound of it I was lucky not to have been watching this on tv, but I did see Megan Washington killing it with her show tunes / cabaret adapted performance of Sunday Best. Amazing!
I’ve recently discovered this 18 year old rapper born in Ghana but now residing in western Sydney. The word is that he got signed to his label based on this song based on Pete Murray‘s track Better Days, a track he made for his high school music assignment, which is very impressive. He also has a track sampling Angus and Julia Stone‘s very popular Big Jet Plane
