Airbourne – ‘Stand Up For Rock ‘n’ Roll’

Listen to

Some two years after a feverish music industry rumour mill began to slaver over what giants Airbourne might be, they finally get around to releasing an album. This single is a joke, sponsored by cynical industry hacks hell-bent on reproducing Jet’s international success by serving up another 70s rock cover band. That Airbourne look and sound exactly like AC/DC is apparently irrelevant; so long as you can don your skinny leg black jeans and bang your head like some sad parody of a real music fan, they win your vote. The whole thing is pathetic. If this idiot parade sells any records I’m gonna move into a cave and seal off the door with a big pile of rocks.

FUCK YOU! Airbourne is doing more for Australian music than you could ever hope to. Music in this country has been fucked up by morons like you. I for one am glad to see decent rock music coming back and stomping all over the shit we have here at the moment. Airbourne are leading the charge and I say GOOD ON ‘EM, FUCK THE NAYSAYERS!!!

Why is it such a sin to indulge in this? We can’t always be mopy and lyrically minded, or nodding at them complex harmonies; sometimes we need a little Andrew WK or Airborne to get our party hard! 😉

absofuckinglutely, airbourne are a waste of space in the industry and the fact that they’re from australia is shameful…you’d think they would have the sense not to rip of ac/dc.

and come on. not that it REALLY matters, but they don’t even have one attractive member to look at.

airbourne are the biggest fucking joke in the australian music scene. they appeal only to idiots. their pathetic try-hard riffs, stupid fucking dancing and and reduculous bogan hair-do’s. they should be called “Airbourne – The AC/DC Tribure Show”. wankers.

they are a fucking joke and i hope their tour bus crashes off a cliff on the great ocean road. don’t wake me til that happens.

The fact that a band can get away with such an obvious rip-off of AC/DC is a travesty.

“Too Much Too Young Too Fast” is a carbon copy of AC/DC’s signature style. Everything from the song layout to the solo structure screams AC/DC. I wouldn’t be surprised to see O’Keeffe or Roads don a school boy outfit at their next concert.

Sadly, the music industry is in such a piss poor state these days I would rather listen to an imitation of good music than the direct ripoffs (covers) that are flooding the market. However, saying that these guys are doing wonders for Australian music is an insult to the legacy that is AC/DC.

    Airbourne simply FUCKIN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Airbourne is the best of the few pure hard rock, head-banging, straight up guitar bands in the last 10 years. They have it all, sweet riffs, hard hitting guitar, and screaming vocals.

I’d bet that all the members of AC/DC are going to get Airbourne’s album right now!! Bon is looking down on them!!!

I wonder how much room is left in the cave. I saw Airbourne live in Auckland this month and they rock. The more people we can get into that cave, the better for the rest of us that wants to enjoy Rock. If we can move Justin and Britney into that cave as well, I will be a happy person.

Every negative comment I’ve heard about Airbourne goes along the lines of “They’re just an AC/DC cover band”, and “They look like bogans”. I hear those things and I think, that’s fucking fantastic!

All the love I have for music today, all the involvement I have with it, and all the happiness and good times it has brought me, I can trace back to one band alone; As you have probably guessed, that band is AC/DC. I am only 21 years old today, but back when I was 15, I wished I’d lived in the time of my parents, having the chance to grow up with these monsters of rock on the radio. Yesterday I discover Airbourne (I don’t listen to the radio…ever) and today I feel like I may still have that chance with Airbourne. They sound like AC/DC? FUCK YEAH! Sadly, Jimmy, the previous poster, will probably be correct in saying that “after their little run, we wont hear nothing of them again”.

It all seems like a gimmick, designed to appeal to classic rock fans. They dress and act the part too no less, and as Gen said, ”
they don’t even have one attractive member to look at”. It’s true, they look like bogans. This is a problem in the music industry that I just can’t let lie: Who fucking cares what the band looks like? What the fuck does it matter? They’re musicians!…. how do you define the word musician? Not that I need to spell it out for you, but a Musician, in basic terms, is a person who plays or composes music. A bands physical attractiveness is about as important as what they eat for breakfast.

In the end it should all come down to one thing; the music. Forget about who they’re ripping off, how they look, what they support, what label they’re with, and how much coke they snort. Take away all those irrelevancies, and all that’s left is the music. If you like what you hear, support the band. I like what I hear. FUCK YEAH AIRBOURNE!

PS: I bought the album, so I won’t be turning on the fucking radio.

Good hard aussie pub rock. These guys used to tour the pubs and not the bullshit clubs or concert style halls. You guys of a younger generation should embrace Airbourne for what music they put out and dont think oh gee they sound like AC/DC or Rose Tattoo of years ago. Those old bands dont make the music they used to but Airbourne do so i just say enjoy them and hopefully one day ill get to catch them live cause they are shit hot.

a lot of people are asking the question who cares if they sound like ACDC well personally i wouldn’t care if they sounded like ACDC but im afraid Airbourne sound exactly the same as ACDC and thats when it becomes a problem for me. an artist as an artist should create his own pieces of work that are original. Of course artists are gonna sound similar to another because of the power of influence but they shouldn’t sound the same. compare Wolfmother and black sabbath although similar they don’t sound the same. again i emphasis the point there is nothing wrong with being “like” your idols but to be the same just hinders your artistic integrity.

i think its Great that you are supporting Aussie artists but i feel it would be better for the whole scene if the band where to be pushed into a more creative direction rather than becoming a one hit wonder Clone of another band

OK… I (like SOPHIA) am a die hard AC/DC fan. I remember the original Bon Scott. I remember crying when he died… I learned to LOVE Brian… ok?? Have seen them every year they came to my city since the mid 70s.

I have Airbourne. I have been painstakingly searching for some new rock that takes me back to “the day”. (EndeverafteR, Jet, Saving Abel, and alas Airbourne.)

The good… (I guess) It’s like AC/DC with amnesia. Exactly the same music, different lyrics. It’s like an 80 year old rewriting lyrics to their favorite classic tunes. Why is that good you say? Well, I’m a head-banger… I think they are good for at least that.

The bad… (seriously) WTF are these guys thinking? I mean – HEEEELLLOOOOOOO Creativity? Take the same guitar, same voice, same drums, and do something UNIQUE??? (Ya think???) I think THAT would be KICK ASS!!!!

The ugly… (attractive?) Errrrrr, anyone that has seen Bon , Brian, or Angus up close… I mean close enough to have their sweat flipped on you, can honestly say… either one is very “attractive” Do you really think that AC/DC wanted to go down in the annals of history being considered “ATTRACTIVE”??? To that I say “WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK”????? We are attracted to rockers because of the puristic fact that they are FUCKING ROCKERS!!!! (Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper, James Hetfield, err… OZZY… need I say more…)

If you want “attractive” listen to the old bubblegum rockin hair bands…

Bottom line… It’s new, it’s rock, and basically – I’ll listen to it, but if they want to get noticed and sell records… DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ROCK ON!!!

Yo, all the people ragging on those who say this band sucks are retarded. This band DOES suck. Its bad enough that your parents listened to (and loved) AC/DC. But now youve grown up, and with the help of the internet, you should have come up with something better to spend your time on than an almost exact replica of the shitty band your parents loved and (stupidly) fucked to. You know because of bands like this, your parents got drunk and pregnant spawning your retarded self, thus leaving us where we stand today: a global spawn of retards that hate their parents for a couple years, then decide to be just like them. Thanks you fucking mentalists for buying this shit, now radio sucks just a little more. And for the record, just because people find Airborne to be garbage doesnt mean they only listen to “rap or whatever.” Im sure many fans of rock music will be just as appalled by it as you would like them to impregnate as many “Sheilas” as possible so AC/DC can be proud grandparents. However, common knowledge as it is that all australians ARE, in fact retarded, so its not fair to presume that people didnt forget that this band already existed over 30 years ago.

anyone who likes this is clearly not a musician, and devoid of musical taste.
    This music is meathead pop.
they are directly stealing from ac/dc.
I am a guitarist in a metal band, i have been playing for over 22 years, I grew up emulating angus young until i discovered more technically challenging music from bands such as metallica pantera megadeth carcass cryptopsy at the gates all shall perish….none of whom are particularly like any of the other, with the possible exception of megadeth being that dave mustaine was a previous member and wrote several metallica songs…. and in spite of my more complex tastes, i still reminisce fondly the good times i had getting drunk and partying and screaming the lyrics to the jack, the bon scott version, i still apreciate brian johnson but not when sings bon scott songs… so beleive me when i say i am not prejudiced against ROCK i can play every ac/dc song ever written, and no doubt every airbourne song, as they are EXACTLY THE SAME. i saw a video on mtv,, having never heard of them, or anything about them, and was in utter disbeleif at the blatant plaugeurisim. sad. very sad.

Alright kiddies pipe down. At near on 50 with a lifetime of hearing and playing music I’m sure about one thing musically. When I listen to music I want to actually FEEL something. I’ve been numbed into almost senslessness by virtually everything commercially released. Too many artists/bands are trying to tick boxes of the secret formula to make them stars. The music industry has become weak and scared and subjects the public to re-issues of previously great songs simply because most (not all) current material is just plain boring. I don’t care about blonde haired vixens shaking their voluptuous asses on video nor do I care about what “meaningful messages” are being conveyed to me. I can think for myself thank you very much.

I remember when AC/DC were first on radio. The first time I heard that unmistakeable sound I felt something. And when I first heard Airbourne I felt that same thing again. I don’t for a minute believe they’re original or will be a Aussie world beater but these guys, love em or hate, have the ability to turn back the clock to when rock’n roll had raw, brute, four on the floor power.

So today as I drive to work in my “old man” 4WD with my briefcase on the rear seat and stuck in traffic, I can finally turn off talkback radio and turn the CD up to 11. Relief – I feel something again.

Final message to naysayers (and it goes with everything in life) – You get out of life what you put into it. People achieve proportional to effort and originality. Let Airbourne have some fun and make a few people happy. Where they finish at the end of the day isn’t really important.

I can guarantee that most of the morons dissing Airbourne have never picked up an instrument and REALLY rocked, and really fucking rolled. When you actually pick up that guitar, and feel what it is to rock, whether in your garage, or in front of a semi-drunk crowd at the local watering hole, you’ll understand what Airbourne are about.

Everyone is a fucking critic. Put it this way, you don’t speak for everyone, you have your opinion and it sucks arse to the next person. NOONE gives a shit what you have to say, shit, NOONE gives a shit what I have to say. The point is, a LOT of people love the sound that Airbourne are producing, myself included. You can have your retarded tantrums and live in your fucking caves, or you can embrace that the music these guys are producing may not be revolutionary, but it fucking rocks harder than you could ever dream of.

@ Dude Face Killah: You are the biggest retard in this thread. Your attempt to be an anonymous, cowardice, internet troll is lame, and you really don’t deserve the time of day. The fact that your shitty comment went unnoticed until now is comical because of the fact that NOONE cares about what internet trolls have to say anymore. Pick up a guitar, learn to play it, then come here and run your mouth.

@ Simone: Nothing about your short article was worth the read. Your childish rant about how much of a clone of AC/DC Airbourne is was nothing that we haven’t heard before about every band that has released music with the nostalgia of the 80’s, or the 70’s, shit, even the 60’s. The fact of the matter is, that people love that nostalgic feeling that they get from guys like Airbourne, Jet and The Vines. Yeah, they might draw off the styles of their rock’n’roll forefathers, but who the fuck are you to judge them?

Both Jet and The Vines copped a lot of flack about their initial release(s) “Oh they sound too much like the Beatles”, in both cases they drew off their idles, and sounded like “cheap ripoffs” but eventually molded their own style and sound, Airbourne are only young, and I have full confidence they will do the same.

If the arseholes like yourself–who think that a band can’t devise their style because their early music sounds too much like their influences–had their way, we’d have no new rock music, because I hate to be the one to bring you back to reality, but (prepare yourself, you may need to sit down) bands are influenced by other bands, and (oh there’s more??) they knead their own style by using the styles of others. Simone, you are a judgmental moron who deserves no place at your mediocre attempt at criticising any musician. Go fuck yourself.

This is like listening to Spinal Tap. Or like The Darkness but less funny. I’m cringing so hard my ears want to crawl away. They’re a fucking cover band. I mean, they can play, and he can sing, but – there’s a difference between being influenced by a band and ripping off that band. These guys are the latter.

And before anyone starts with this “IF U DON’T LIKE AIRBOURNE YOU’VE NEVER FUKN ROCKED MATE GO PICK UP A GUITAR” – I’m a musician, have been for 18 years. I’m also a guitarist, and have been for 10 years. The two don’t necessarily coincide, as Airbourne show. Good guitarists, shit musicians. No offense, rhythm section.

    I think they suck.
I also know for a fact that that album cost $300,000 to record.
I am a musician and I’m in the music industry so don’t spin that shit about never played a guitar because i don’t like airborn (what type of band name is that anyway). I was into Metallica and AC/DC when I was a kid. Big shit. We all have to grow up sometime. I’d rather be into the real thing that a shitty copy. They have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW TO OFFER.

If you need $300,000 to record your first album and it ends up sounding like a really bad clone of another band/or even a good clone (doesn’t matter a clone is a clone) then there is something wrong with you.

More importantly, if you’ve made an assumption that the only thing that exists outside of no brainer head banger rock music is Rap then you really should get out a bit more. There is a big world there, moron.

There are plenty of decent rock bands that don’t need to rip someone else off, and they don’t need $300,000 to record an album!

I personally like these guys even though they really do sound like AC/DC. Its guys like these that the Australian music needs. They rock have nice riffs and kickass vocals and they do seem to know how to party. They are everything that rock is about. They sound too much like AC/DC but honestly i reckon its better that they concentrate on rocking hard than being ‘unique’ since this strive to be unique has led to the decline of rock music around the world where everything needs to be experimental ans weird. Its good to see that destructive rocking spirit is still out there. They may be a clone but hell its a step in the right direction.

To all who love this song, seriously, I just want to know, why don’t you start looking forward instead of back? You keep saying “if you don’t like it, fuck off and listen to Nickelback or Eminem or .”

Thing is, why don’t you listen to something new and fresh from other self-released or indie label rock artists? There are plenty of good ones, hell, some of them might even be in your own town, playing small gigs for free or $5. Music has progressed a long way since the days of AC/DC in terms of styles, the music industry only goes forward when people start breaking down walls, not just repeating the past. Sure, Airbourne may have a lot of followers, but you may as well be at your local watching a solo artist busting out ACDC covers with a MIDI backing. It’s got about the same amount of passion put into it and no atmosphere.

Please, for the sake of everyone involved, please continue listening to your old ACDC records, while also considering new music that isn’t just cover material.

so wat if they sound like ac/dc, ac/dc ripped off chuck berry heaps, just as he probably ripped of someone else, its the influences and small changes that matter, and the passion. airbourne is best thing that has come out in ages.

ever heards of a band called iron maiden, well they use judas priest style, but evolved it.

ever heard of a band called guns n roses, they use rose tatoo style but eveolved it.

the influences and classics create the idea, but the changes and evlution is the passion.

Airbourne won Best New Band and Best New Album awards in the UK – sold out tour dates through the USA, Canada, Europe and UK in 2008, including many large festivals (60,000 at Wacken) – also supported many big name bands and artists – they have 75 songs in the bag for the follow-up second album – the first album cost under half what one fuckwit above quoted, and they fully own it. The first CD will continue to sell even more once the 2nd comes out and son on.

I can only say there are many jealous arsewipes who would be wannabees if they couldbees.

The doomsayers deserve to be all together in that same dark cave wanking each other off for eternity.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha……….

Don’t get me started on Jet – Are you gonna be my girl is the riff from Iggy Pops Lust for Life with a little flourish at the end & virtually the same drum pattern (down to the high hats as Town Called Malice from the Jam.. Jet are the real contenders for worst rip off

    AIRBOURNE, AIRBOURNE, AIRBOURNE.

yes, i agree that these guys sound just like ACDC. but i love them all the same.

i happen to know them, and they all know that their music is like ACDC. They think thats a good thing….bring back good ol’ aussie rock.

Frankly they don’t give a shit about all the negitive feed back. they have a good time performing and entertaining their fans, and if its infront of 40,000 people or in front of 9, the boys put 100% into the show. They are good at what they do!

what more can you ask for?

who made a rule that acdc are the only people aloud to sound like acdc you fucking dumb shits?!?!?! how the fuck can every musician write something new and different?! if your goin of this rule then you must think beethoven sucks dick because he sounds like mozart? just because they sound like, look like and act like acdc isnt a reason to hate these guys! the fact is they write catchy songs, and obviously have fun doing it! what could be more rock n roll (or australian) than that. im sure acdc are proud of these guys for keeping the pure rock scene going after them. to all the people who hate them because the sound like acdc…WHAT A PATHETIC FUCKING REASON! and who is this guy saying they are not real music?! WHAT THE FUCK IS REAL MUSIC???!!! PLEASE TELL ME OH GREAT ONE! fuck you all for being so absent minded!
