Empire Of The Sun – 'Walking On A Dream'

Empire of The Sun – ‘Walking On A Dream’ (link taken down on request)

As promised a few weeks ago, here is the first original track from Empire of the Sun. I do believe we are the first blog or even media outlet to have this but I’ll stop short of claiming exclusivity since I can’t really confirm it. I haven’t got any bio, website or even a photo so there isn’t much to write except to repeat that this is a new collaboration between Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and current electro favourites Pnau. A few weeks ago we posted a remix of this song by Sam La More – Nick Littlemore’s brother – which was reviewed by pitchforkmedia.com . Luke’s melodies are so distinctive and unconventional that it works so well on Pnau’s structured beats – great combo. Very much looking forward to the album.

Correction….Not Pnau’s beats at all…They’re from a guy called Donnie Sloan….He did this track

some info about empire of the sun:
Having well and truly reinvigorated the Pnau name following the success of their most recent album, Nick Littlemore has embarked on a mysterious side project with Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson that’s creating quite a stir. The duo have named their new venture Empire Of The Sun, and they’ve worked with Littlemore’s partner-in-Pnau-crime Pete Mayes, as well as Jonathan Sloan (aka Donnie Sloan) of Sneaky Sound System.

There’s an album on the way, but the first glimpse of their music has made its way online with a teaser video for the single ‘Walking On A Dream’ appearing recently. Filmed in Shanghai, it’s got us excited to hear the full album. The single release is said to have remixes from Sam La More, Van She Tech and the Hong Kong Blondes too!

Not sure if anyone has yet seen the film clip, (if you haven’t, you might as well check it out, has a uniquely interesting flare) but pair are brilliant, where they high when they decided to make the clip? I have no idea. But I love it non the less.

I really want to get their album. The clips are better than MGMT’s (at least you know what your looking at, except ‘Electric Feel’ I like the quirkiness of their creativity).

Good luck to you Empire Of The Sun! Good to see some more excellent Australian tallent.

…after hearing ‘with you forever’ on pnau’s recent album i knew it was a great combination with luke steele, but once i saw & heard the track/clip ‘walking on a dream’ on jtv i was speechless & cant wait for more from this fine australian post-pop-electro callabaration…

Empire of the Sun, good movie. This may be as sad!?.. Self-indulgent. Phony. A somewhat pretty but unintentionally disturbing video. Whatever’s been leftover here seems completely pointless. I want substance next time. Though i won’t be expecting any Spielberg-level production..

This track is fab. Id like to point out thats it’s all Donnie Sloan. Anyone who knows the lad and his collaborations will realise his unique sound. Fron the keys to the beats, it’s very Donnie, all played by Donnie. GIve the boy some credit for his talents! Brilliance…..

Downloaded from i-tunes after first hearing on JJJ. But can anyone tell me the lyrics to the chorus? There’s a lyrics section on their website but I can’t seem to access it… Best song I’ve heard all year… Great to see such awesome Aus talent. Hope there’s more of the same on the album!

    WALKING ON A DREAM

    Walking on a dream
    How can I explain
    Talking to myself
    Will I see again

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me

    Is it real now
    When two people become one
    I can feel it
    When two people become one

    Thought I’d never see
The love you found in me
Now it’s changing all the time
Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime

    Catch me I’m falling down
    Catch me I’m falling down

Don’t stop just keep going on
    I’m your shoulder lean upon
So come on deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right till first light

I could be late but I only recently discovered Empire of the Sun. These two are sweet as, listening to ‘Walking on a dream’ kinda makes me feel as though I’m flying through the clouds when I listen to it and close my eyes. My Girlfriend loves them too. Truly unique and mystical, nothing like them and hopefully never will be!!!…

    I got the record…

It will be interesting to see post-MGMT post-Yeasayer how it’s recieved in both UK and Oz.

But defiantly has some great summer festival tunes though a bit artsy and twisted in the middle..
