Last Dinosaurs
Last Dinosaurs – ‘Honolulu’ (mp3)
I first came across Brisbane four-piece Last Dinosaurs when my housemate excitedly burst through my bedroom door with their single ‘Honolulu’ blasting from the tiny speakers of his Macbook Pro – I’m very glad he did.
Last Dinosaurs successfully bring together a blend of pop and indie that is filled with the kind of catchy riffs, slurred vocals and group chants that make you want to get up and dance and ultimately leaves you with the perfect soundtrack for a sunny Sunday afternoon spent hanging out in your backyard accompanied by your mates and one to many cases of Draughts.
It’s not just my housemate and I who think that Last Dinosaurs might be onto something, they’ve recently picked up support slots for acts such as Pony Up, Yves Klein Blue and Washington and have also been enjoying some radio play from the lovely folks over at Triple J.
DZ – ‘Blue Blood’
DZ – ‘Blue Blood’
In between touring, getting their gear stolen and causing indie music reviewers all along the east coast to cream their black skinnies, DZ have gathered a super-profesh team around them and recorded their debut EP. Lead single ‘Blue Blood’ is pretty simple – shouting and metronomic riffing over slightly sloppy drumming, but it just works.
I kind of hope this dance-grunge movement dies in its own vomit at a house party somewhere soon, but only because very few bands do it as well as these guys. Party on, Wayne.

Win tickets to see the Philly Jays
Last time we headed out to see the Philly Jays there was a queue that went halfway down the block and into the dodgy Thai restaurant around the corner. And no amount of industry haggling/bribing the doorbitch/hiding in our friend’s pockets could get us in to see the show. And that stuff almost always works.
So we know you kids must love Philadelphia Grand Jury a hell of a lot.
Luckily we have the dates of their next few shows right here… and if you live in Sydney or Melbourne you could win free tickets right here.
To enter for your chance to win a double pass to either the Melbourne or Sydney (Spectrum) shows, leave a comment below and tell us who the Philly Jays wanna kill, and why. Make sure you leave your email address so we can contact you.

The Chaingang boys and girls recently went over to Nashville to record their new release, and in a daze of jetlag and studio delirium, recorded this cover and tweeted their progress, and sent it across to whoever was following. So here it is in case you missed it.
