Deep Sea Arcade – ‘Don’t Be Sorry'(mp3)

Listen to

One of the more exciting new bands to come out of Sydney in the past couple of years, Deep Sea Arcade is blessed with the very captivating frontman in Nic McKenzie, who genuinely loses himself in every song they play. Don’t Be Sorry is the current single they’re touring now, but the live shows indicate there’s a lot more to come from this Sydney five piece. One to put on your watchlist.

Winter People – ‘My Town’ (mp3)

Listen to

With Arcade Fire in between albums, there are no shortage of local bands wanting to fill the gap for multi-instrumental multi-vocal indie-folk, and Surry Hills’ Winter People fit that description well. Out of the five tracks from their The Dog Years, ‘My Town’ resonates with me the most. I’ve yet to see them live, but if you’d like to join me, they’ll be playing whothehell.net’s own Blogger’s Delight on Friday 25th September at MUM @ World bar. Entry is FREE if you rsvp to the invite. And you can get an invite by joining our mailing list.

Gotye – ‘Learnalilgivinanlovin” (Passion Pit remix)(mp3)

Listen to

Gotye remixed by 2009 breakthrough stars Passion Pit courtesy of their US label Neon Gold. Had to say I was expecting a little bit more than what came through, but the original was so good I guess there’s not much that can be done. The prospect of further collaboration is very exciting indeed.

Ghostwood – ‘Rest My Soul’ (mp3)

Listen to

I’ve never been a fan of this Ghostwood before but this track might just change my mind. In fact this sounds like an entirely different band from the young band I heard a few years back. A lot of bands make the trip to England hoping to get deal, for most of them nothing happens and they just come back with maxed out credit cards. Ghostwood did this, as far as I know not a lot happened in terms of deals, but they did record this in London and a bunch of other demos as well, so I’d say that trip has been worth it. Keen to hear the rest of the new tracks.

They made a trippy video too:
