Megan Washington – ‘Clementine’

Listen to

So following from yesterday, Megan Washington is a Melbourne based Jazz-ish singer songwriter who has done backup vocals for Old Man River. A friend tipped me off about her months ago but I didn’t bother checking her out until I actually met her in a restaurant in Collingwood, she’s a real animated gal. Out of her songs on myspace Clementine stands out the most, and it does show just how promising of a vocalist Megan is. She’s in New York for the next two months doing shows and such so check her out if you’re around.

After hearing Megan on Spicks – I HAD to go and find more of her. I liked allan brough’s (spelling?) comment about her voice making him cry.

She can really work your emotions. – Wow.

It’s Creep by Radiohead. I think she sounded much better than them even with singing it to some lame words.

Had to echo Allan Brough’s comment regarding Megan Washington’s voice- I was transfixed by her singing of the book on spicks and specks; trying to work out the name of the song didn’t enter into my mind. Her voice was fabulous. I just had to do something I hadn’t done before- do a google search on a singer. Really pleased I have. What beautiful songs she sings.

Saw her on Spicks. I liked her story about tickling a midget in Portugal. She’s playing at the Corner next Saturday.

Like everyone else, saw Megan on Spicks and specks and I couldn’t work out the songs (which I am usually pretty good at) because of her beautiful voice. I agreed with Allan Brough, I thought she was as good as Katie Noonan. Typical Brissie girls, fantastic.

I hear you, sophieb. I think she’s our greatest female talent. Wit, class, great songs and THAT voice. Plus she’s always surprising with her musical choices. Can’t wait for the album.

So what is with this girl? It seems like everybody saw her on 1 tv show and the next thing she’s everywhere. I can’t help but think that there is a big machine pushing her. Good on her, I guess. It just seems a bit quick to be real.
