The fine folk across the blogosphere at East To West and Life Aquatic are bringing Guerre, the lomo cam and some serious aqueous ambience to Melbs this weekend. Naminé, The Townhouses, Felix Weatherbourne & Kharkov round up the lineup playing at Loop Bar this Saturday.

Local party collective I OH YOU are putting on another reasonably docile event featuring OFWGKTA DJS + Rat Vs. Possum on the 3rd of June.

We’ve got double passes for both shows at our disposal. See below for details.

Children Collide – 'Loveless' (video)

So impressed with team behind Children Collide’s new video for ‘Loveless’. The clip was produced by Michael Cody, shot by Germain McMicking of Flood Projects and directed by lauded Animal Kingdom director David Michôd.

For a one shot take involving make up, manhandling and a hairdresser who’s willing to excoriate four layers of skin along with six months of follicle commitment, Johnny McKay’s stoic performance deserves some serious applause.

Children Collide hit the road in August for their Loveless tour, see below the jump for full dates.

Love Migrate (Goodnight Owl) – 'Little Kid'

Love Migrate – ‘Little Kid’

Listen to

Name changes. Risky stuff. Seems to be working for DZ Deathrays though (formerly DZ) who are currently having a grand old time in the UK.

Goodnight Owl are also jumping in on the switch. The Melbourne band have added new members to the bill and are changing their name to Love Migrate.

Here’s the first listen on the interwebs of their new track ‘Little Kid’. Really digging this buoyant number which in my mind, is lot more substantial than their older stuff. They’ve swapped folktronica for staunch hooks that have a little more ‘oomph’. And it’s sounding decent.

The band will be relaunching as Love Migrate on July 2nd at the Grace Darling. It’s a bit like a funeral, but a welcome one of sorts.

Kins – ‘Mockasins’

Listen to

Melbourne’s Kins are finally releasing their mini LP Dancing Back and Forth in Whipped Cream on May 20th. The LP was recorded in Kins’ home studio late 2010 and mastered by Matt Voigt (Cat Power, Augie March, Big Scary) earlier this year.

The band have also just been announced on the bill for newcomer Castle Festival alongside a list of other local acts.

These guys put on a pretty swell live show, although I’m still yet to witness some smooth choreography and whipped dairy goods as the LP title suggests. Three shots at redemption below.

Mrs Bishop – 'Where The River Flows'

, , No Comment

Listen to

Nordic niceties from this Sydney brother duo. Their bio says they were born in Sweden, raised at a boarding school in the UK and are ‘classically trained’. If those English choirboy practices are anything to go by, Mrs Bishop’s harmonic balls haven’t quite dropped yet. Good stuff.

Catch Mrs Bishop playing SOSUEME’S 4th Birthday on the 28th of May at Oxford Arts with Parades, Guineafowl, Bon Chat Bon Rat & more (see below).
